The great room is divided by three functions: cooking, eating and living. It is the centre of family life, and the task was to design an „invisible” kitchen that would make a harmonious background to the two other functions. The challenge was to create this elegant and effective space within the three metres offered by one of the walls. Having those fixed guidelines, I decided to use the area above the worktop that the three and a half metre high ceiling had to offer. As a result I designed a small kitchen which is nevertheless very generous in storage space. To allow the maximum worktop surface possible, the drip tray supported by aeration holes is hidden in one of the cupboards. Narrow gaps between the dishwasher and washing machine, as well as under the sink, allow further space for drawers for cleaning supplies.
